Get your young virgins vaccinated against HPV and cancer

A New England Journal of Medicine study of data on cancer vaccines like Gardasil shows that what drugmaker Merck is advertising makes sense.

Get your young virgins vaccinated. (Picture from Feministvoice.)

The study looked solely at the cost-effectiveness of the vaccine, and assumed it works as advertised. It used the Quality Adjusted Life Year (QALY) as its yardstick.

What’s the value, per quality year of life gained, of the vaccine, when compared with the current practice of screening for the cancer?
For 12-year old girls, it’s dirt cheap, $43,600.
For girls to 18, it’s $97,300.
For women to 21, $120,400.
Extend the program to age 26 and it’s $152,700.

There is an important qualification here. These figures assume the treatment gives lifelong protection. If it has to be repeated every 10 years, the cost of using it on today’s 12-year olds goes to $140,00 and it’s less cost-effective than screening for anyone else.

The vaccine tagets oncogenic human papillomavirus, seen as the cause of all cervical cancer, 90% of anal cancer cases, and 40% of vaginal cancer cases in the U.S.

QALY studies may be controversial, since they place an economic value on saving lives for policy purposes. But they are bound to become more common as health care costs run up against national budgets.

While there is no consensus on the QALY number that represents good value-for-resources, the authors estimated it at $50-100,000.

The study didn’t ask vaccine recipients whether they had begun sexual activity, just assumed that those under 12 had not and the chances of it having started rose with age.

But it is a key question. People who are sexually active just don’t get as much benefit, because it’s likely they’ve already gotten the virus.

So while Gardasil will remain controversial, its value for girls and young women who are not yet sexually active seems established.

What is anal cancer?

Anal cancer is cancer found in the anus. The anus is the opening through which body waste passes. The anus is the opening at the end of the rectum (the end part of the large intestine) through which body waste passes. Cancer of the anus (anal cancer) is very rare, and is the result of abnormal cell growth in the anus. Cancer of the outer part of the anus is more

likely to occur in men, while cancer of the inner part of the rectum occurs more often in women.

Anal cancer, an uncommon cancer, is a disease in which cancer cells develop in the anus. Cancer may develop inside the body in the tissues of the anal canal or in the anal sphincter or the outside area of the anus. Cancer in the outer part of the anus is more likely to occur in men, while cancer that forms inside the anal canal is more likely to occur in women. Tumors found in the area of skin with hair on it just outside the anus are skin tumors, not anal cancer.

Different cancers can develop in different parts of the anus, part of which is inside the body and part of which is outside. Sometimes abnormal changes of the anus are harmless in their early stages but may later develop into cancer. Some anal warts, for example, contain precancerous areas and can develop into cancer. Approximately half of anal cancers are squamous cell carcinomas, which arise from the cells lining the anal margin and the anal canal. The anal margin is the part of the anus that is half inside and half outside the body, and the anal canal is the part of the anus that is inside the body. The earliest form of squamous cell carcinoma is known as carcinoma in situ, or Bowen's disease. Approximately one-fourth to one-third of anal tumors are cloacogenic carcinomas. These tumors develop in the transitional zone, or cloaca, which is a ring of tissue between the anal canal and the rectum. About 15% of anal cancers are adenocarcinomas, which affect glands in the anal area. One type of adenocarcinoma that can occur in the anal area is called Paget's disease, which can also affect the vulva, breasts, and other areas of the body. A small percentage of anal cancers are either basal cell carcinomas, or malignant melanomas, two types of skin cancer. Malignant melanomas, which develop from skin cells that produce the brown pigment called melanin, are far more common on areas of the body exposed to the sun.

What causes anal cancer?
The exact cause of most anal cancers is unknown, although certain individuals appear to have a higher risk of developing the disease. Smokers are at higher risk, as are individuals with certain types of the human papillomavirus (HPV), and those with long-term problems in the anal area, such as abnormal openings known as fistulas. Since it increases the risk of HPV infection, the practice of anal sex appears to increase the risk of anal cancer-male homosexuals who practice anal sex are about 33 times more likely to have anal cancers than heterosexual men. Those with weakened immune systems, such individuals with HIV, or transplant patients taking immunosuppressant drugs, are also at higher risk. Most individuals with anal cancer are over the age of 50. It is known that anal cancer is more likely to develop in people who have had a particular virus infection called the human papilloma virus (HPV). The risk of having HPV increases with the number of sexual partners you have. Anal cancer is also more common in people who have a lowered immunity due to medical conditions, such as HIV. Cigarette smoking may also increase a person's risk of developing anal cancer.

What are the risk factors for cancer?
The risk factors for developing anal cancer include the following:
# Anal intercourse: The human pillomavirus (HPV) can cause anal warts, which sometimes causes cancer. HPV can be transmitted through anal intercourse, and cannot be prevented by using condoms.
# Smoking: Smokers are eight times more likely than nonsmokers to develop anal cancer. Smokers can reduce their risk by quitting.
# Weakened immune systems: People with weakened immune systems, such as transplant patients or people with various types of chronic illnesses, are at a higher risk for developing anal cancer.
# Age: Anal cancer is most common in people over the age of 50 and highest in people over age 85.
# Other medical conditions:People with chronic problems in the anal area and people with lowered immune system function have an increased risk of developing anal cancer.

What are the symptoms of anal cancer?
Symptoms of anal cancer resemble those found in other harmless conditions. They include pain, itching and bleeding, straining during a bowel movement, change in bowel habits, change in the diameter of the stool, discharge from the anus, and swollen lymph nodes in the anal or groin area. People with anal cancer often experience bleeding with bowel movements, pain, and sometimes itching around the anus. About 25% of people with anal cancer have no symptoms; in these instances, the cancer is found only during a routine examination.

How is anal cancer diagnosed?
Anal cancer is sometimes diagnosed during routine physicals, or during minor procedures such as hemorrhoid removal. It may also be diagnosed during a digital rectal examination (DRE), when a physician inserts a gloved, lubricated finger into the anus to feel for unusual growths. Individuals over the age of 50 who have no symptoms should have a digital rectal examination (DRE) every five to 10 years, according to American Cancer Society (ACS) guidelines for early detection of colorectal cancer.

Other diagnostic procedures for anal cancer include: Anoscopy. A procedure that involves use of a special device to examine the anus. Proctoscopy. A procedure that involves use of a lighted scope to see the anal canal. Transrectal ultrasound. A procedure in which sound waves are used to create an image of the anus and nearby tissues.

A biopsy is performed on any suspicious growths; that is, a tiny piece of the growth is examined under a microscope for cancer cells. The physician may also perform a procedure called a fine needle aspiration biopsy, in which a needle is used to withdraw fluid from lymph nodes located near the growth, to make sure the cancer hasn't spread to these nodes.

What're the stages of anal cancer?
Stage 0: The cancer is found only in the top layer of anal tissue. During this stage, treatment will probably be simple surgery to remove all of the cancer.

Stage I: The cancer has spread beyond the top layer of anal tissue, is smaller than two centimeters in diameter (less than one inch), and has not spread to the muscle tissue of the sphincter.

Stage IIIA: The cancer has spread to the lymph nodes around the rectum or to nearby organs such as the vagina or bladder.

Stage IIIB: The cancer has spread to the lymph nodes in the middle of the abdomen or in the groin, or the cancer has spread to both nearby organs and the lymph nodes around the rectum.

Stage IV: The cancer has spread to distant lymph nodes within the abdomen or to organs in other parts of the body.

Recurrent: Recurrent cancer is cancer that has come back (recurred) after it has been treated. It may come back in the anus or in another part of the body.

What're the treatments for anal cancer?
Anal cancer is treated using three methods, used either in concert or individually: surgery, radiation therapy, and chemotherapy.

Two types of surgery may be performed. A local resection, performed if the cancer has not spread, removes the tumor and an area of tissue around the tumor. This may be used for small tumours on the outside of the anus. This operation only removes the area of the anus containing the cancer cells. The muscle that opens and closes the anus to allow the faeces to be passed normally is not usually affected, and so normal bowel function is maintained for most people. An abdominoperineal resection is a more complex procedure in which the anus and the lower rectum are removed, and an opening called a colostomy is created for body wastes to exit. This procedure is fairly uncommon today because radiation and chemotherapy are just as effective. This operation requires a permanent colostomy, which involves diverting the open end of the bowel on to the surface of the abdomen (tummy area), to allow faeces to be passed out of the body into a colostomy bag. The opening on the abdominal wall is known as a stoma.

Radiation therapy uses high-energy rays to fight cancer cells. It is usually delivered via a machine outside the body, but may also be delivered via surgically implanted radioactive pellets. This latter method is called internal radiation, brachytherapy, or interstitial radiation. Side effects of radiation may include tiredness, skin damage resembling sunburn, and damage to anal tissues. These side effects usually decrease gradually once the treatment has ended, but it may take some months for skin changes to go back to normal. A small proportion of people find that their bowel function is permanently altered, and it is important to discuss this with your doctor as it is often possible to find ways of reducing any problems. Your doctor or a dietitian at the hospital can give you advice.

Other potential side effects that can occur after radiotherapy for anal cancer include narrowing of the vagina (vaginal stenosis), and dryness. To help prevent this, women will be asked to use a vaginal dilator with a lubricating jelly to keep the vaginal walls open and supple. Some women may also need to use lubricating jelly during sexual intercourse. Infertility can also be a side effect of radiotherapy. If you are concerned about your risks of being infertile following treatment, it is a good idea to discuss this issue with your specialist before starting.

Chemotherapy fights cancer using drugs, which may be delivered via pill or needle. Some chemotherapy types kill cancer cells directly, while others act indirectly by making cancer cells more vulnerable to radiation. The main drugs used to treat anal cancer are 5-fluorouracil (5-FU) and mitomycin or 5-FU and cisplatin. Side effects of chemotherapy, which damages normal cells in addition to cancer cells, may include nausea and vomiting, hair loss, loss of appetite, diarrhea, mouth sores, fatigue, shortness of breath, and a weakened immune system. The chemotherapy drugs are usually given by injection into a vein (intravenously). They can temporarily reduce the number of normal cells in your blood. When your blood count is low you are more likely to get an infection and you may tire very easily. During chemotherapy your blood will be tested regularly and, if necessary, you may be given antibiotics to treat any infection. Blood transfusions may be given if you become anaemic due to chemotherapy.

A special risk factors for breast cancer Male

-- Only about 1-1.5% of all breast cancer cases occur in humans.

-- Several risk factors have been identified that make some people more likely to develop breast cancer than others.

These risk factors are:

The average age of men diagnosed with breast cancer between 60 and 70 years.

Family History:

-- 20% of men with breast cancer have close relatives that his wife (or had) breast cancer.

The exposure to radiation:

-- Before the exposure to radiation (mostly for the treatment of cancer) is a risk factor for male breast cancer.

Liver disease:

-- If the normal functioning of the liver, it helps with hormone metabolism by binding proteins that the implementation of the hormones in the blood. If there is a man of diseases such as liver cirrhosis, they tend to have lower levels of androgens (male hormones), and the higher levels of estrogens (female hormones). This reality puts them at increased risk of developing gynecomastia (not - cancerous tissue growth) and breast cancer.

Symptoms of Male breast abnormalities

-- In the majority of the male breast changes are the result of benign (not cancerous) abnormalities, such as gynecomastia (non-cancerous growth of tissue)

-- So, people should report any persistent breast changes to their doctors for clinical evaluation.

-- The symptoms of male breast cancer may include:

-- A flat chest,

-- Swelling,

-- Skin dimpling or puckering,

How to cure Male breast cancer

This will be depending on the type and stage of breast cancer.

The next treatment will probably be used:

Prices for the survival of the male breast cancer

Today, survival rates are similar to women cancer, when treatment is the tumor starts at the same time.

Anyway, male breast cancer is often diagnosed in the later stages of female breast cancer.

The following graph is the estimated amount of survival for each stage of breast cancer. The percentages are only averages. The chance of survival will be different for each man, depending on their medical situation and a number of other factors, including the new possibilities of treatment, how he reacts to treatment, etc.

Scenario 1 SIZE tumor less than 2 cm No lymph nodes 5 years Survivalrate 100%

Scene 2 tumor SIZE period of 2-5 cm No lymph nodes 5 years Survivalrate 95%

Stage 3 tumor SIZE No more than 5 cm lymph nodes 5 years Survivalrate 84%

Stage 4 tumor SIZE not apply to Survivalrate 52%

Exercise and breast cancer

Taking my every opportunity to distribute marketing material for my new book, I stopped to children in a clothing store on Sunday afternoon. Parking at the site, with the exception of six years of my son caught a glimpse of "the tape with those two lines." Half of my attention to him, his value observation that were "more than three" on a special machine. What continue to benefit from its in my opinion, I began to focus on their conversation. I told them that was not exactly what he meant by a clear description of the two-line tape. "You know…… red and one of Boob problem……." Ground Zero! I understand that he spoke so strongly मैरून tape awareness that several vehicles in these days. I started to deceive his innocence in the recent memory of my 15 minutes of explanation of breast cancer as a "Boob of the problem." Later, we enjoyed the moment, I remember hitting a serious note that the disease is far from the heart and can leave the ridiculous in the way of evil and destruction. In fact, according to Dr. Susan Love, women in 110 breast cancer strikes every day.

My first encounter as a personal trainer with the recovery of breast cancer and a bunch of customers came during a meeting a few years ago, his experience was enough. If you've never met a breast cancer winner you notice the eyes reflect a sense that life is beautiful. I have come to meeting with my client while I work on swimming and racket club. Even the way in which I was filled with grace. Desire to strengthen his body after an illness, regular training, has investigated about the weight. He was smiling, simple but subtle smile to every question I asked. To see his sorrow for his recent wraps. His hair is a specific style of a small middle-aged woman and legs are still presented with the years of tennis that kept its shape. I honour the position of a coach to take her and we worked on a programme towards the reconstruction of his body not only for the purposes of strength and resistance, but to get a touch of inner peace as well.

Recovery from breast cancer is not so different from a simple exercise program to avoid this type of accident was a woman in his life. If you have followed fitness for any period of time, visited the doctor or taken a class in the school, informative, to pave the way for living the religion to get the blood flowing weight and heart. Instead, you increase the chances of avoiding the disease (heart related, cancer, diabetes). Similarly, if you have successfully fight the disease and the desire for a method of attack against the bus or want to reduce applicants offensive after striking it we all know that points a finger towards the local gym…. Although already in 1980, research has shown that aerobic exercise was to improve the level of fatigue and nausea in cancer patients later. Fast forward for the benefit of present and multiplied over the years. After the study is a sign of weight training, aerobic exercise and fitness emphasis on the mind and body (that is, yoga) all have much impact on the improvement of 25-50% of pain, fatigue, in general optimism, and the person A common fitness level as a person can improve the quality of your daily life, full of energy with ईशान work.

It 'clear that the exercise plays a huge role in helping to prevent breast cancer feel better. Affermativo, what are the details of the programme design? First, you want to stay clear of surgery to stress or stitched area. Next, and equally important, common to 10-15 minutes to start hot, no matter if you set the weight training, heart, a number of yoga or a regular threat. After the exercise is that different types of initiation. For the resistance / weight training exercises, you want to start the initial phase of our program with low weight, but also with the double repetitions. टयूबिंग and flexible banda for a good start in the first phase. While it may not be directly working muscle tissue in his surgery in the area, many of the muscles to work together in stabilization and a contraction of the muscle. Low weight that your insurance does not overexerted heal the wounds soon as possible. 2-3 series of 15-20 repetitions of standards.

Another area in the heart of the training exercise. Cardio machines such as the treadmill or elliptical machines are acceptable and can be used for 3-4 days a week. Of his fitness in the initial phase of recovery may be regular follow you where you want to plan a gap beginning of the season with a strong intensity minutes after a low-intensity minute, for a total of thirty minutes. Improve your position, you can reduce low-intensity minutes and 30 seconds for all to an end.

Finally, the mind and body exercises such as yoga make a step further in the gym. Not only to strengthen your body you are, also exploited in peace within each slow and controlled breathing. The ideal is to receive the exemption, this type of training may be used for no more than 5-15 minutes per day and for the positive results still exists.

However, in the form of breast cancer awareness has reached a height that former President Bill Clinton, who signed the breast and cervical cancer prevention and treatment of Law of 2000, is the fact that the disease not to interrupt the 'recruiting For more and more often. While a cure is currently engaged, preventive measures are not. What is interesting in a fitness program includes a healthy diet, regular exercise and positive mental development is the best choice to increase longevity.

Treatment of breast cancer: children with a mastectomy

Given that women, especially American women, a large part of our femininity is centered on the breasts. No matter where you look there are pictures, billboards, advertisements, television shows and movies with women with these beautiful breasts and a great divide. Gândul of losing one or both breasts, breast cancer can be devastating for many of us. Admittedly, there is no reconstruction, but will it ever really the same? Even if you have reconstruction, you feel and, again, for many of us, we certainly affects sexuality.

We went through two mastectomies, for my breast cancer, despite the fact that we wanted to do both at once. Two surgeons told me that was not necessary. They later discovered he was, as I had the same breast cancer in both breasts. Through these surgeries, I learned a little about what to expect and how to make operational again, after a mastectomy for breast cancer.

The first thing is to realise that besides the emotional aspect of such an operation is a simple intervention. Pieptul is composed, in most of the fat tissue and, of course, milk ducts and lobes. The removal of the breast tissue that is much easier than operating on an organ, but carries much more emotional impact for most of November. Most surgeons will have as much breast tissue as it may help reduce the risk of recurrence of your a breast cancer. You will usually, with a wind horizontal scar about four inches long. The scar May be red for some time but, ultimately, should go far, where you can barely see more.

You want to be sure to take loose-fitting, button down shirts (raiding your husband worth private) with you at the hospital, you will not be able to raise its head arms above during some time . You will need, too, a sports bra and I would recommend that fixed in front. They once you put on your surgery. As a general rule, should be able to remain in hospital overnight. If you have a plan to remove the lymph nodes and a small pillow, to slide under the arm, which will help you work more comfortable. Check your American Cancer Society, because they have small pillows for you May. An additional hold it to his chest, where you need to cough, sneeze or laugh, can help keep your incision wrong.

When you wake up, you'll have one or two drain pipes on each side you've done. These tubes are important because they allow the excess fluid, your body will produce, to evacuate. If you have not, should be established with a liquid shares. The drains, even though they're no fun, are better than this. These drains must be emptied several times a day and you have to write as much liquid leakage, if your doctor know when you've slowed down enough to remove them. You may not know where to put these drains under your clothing. I was at my neck in sports and in this way, they do not shoot when I went through.

At your exchange, a plan to have someone there to help during the first few days. It will not be allowed to come to your Cabinet and certainly not be able to do housework or take your children if you shortly. You will be sent home with pain medication and take it certainly if you need it. Studies show that if you heal more quickly to keep your pain, should not be afraid to take as.

If you have a recliner, you might consider moving the room in which you can not remain fixed for a period of time. You have to sleep in a position partial days. If you do not have, or have no free space in a room, a lot of pillows, too, work. That is what we used. Just make sure you have enough pillows propped you comfortable.

If you want someone who was there before the visit, make sure your call the American Cancer Society and ask for a Reach 2 voluntary recovery. It is a program of The American Cancer Society where they try to match with one of their volunteers who have a similar experience that you are facing. This woman will visit you and give you all kinds of brochures and information regarding conventional treatment. Too, will bring a list of exercises you can start to be done to regain mobility and range of motion.

It is very important. It hurts to stretch his arm after a surgery, but if you do not have reconstruction, and if you do not begin soon, will lose that range of motion. We recommend starting slowly, slowly until you reach arm… leave your body guide you… two days after your Surgery. But if you do not have reconstruction. If, in your plastic surgeon I tell you when to start stretching. Push to where it hurts just a little, but not to push too far in the past. Gradually, we will be able to stretch a little further every two days.

Above all, you heal emotional and physical. Some of us simply can not look at that incision immediately. It's OK. Take as much time as you need. I know I felt like a kind of monster without breasts, and even six years later, I do sometimes still. But remember that these are your scars battle scars. They do not make you less than a woman. They are a warrior.

Breast cancer, treatment?

In the treatment of breast cancer is still not known. This year, more than 1.5 million people worldwide are diagnosed with breast cancer.

Most women get breast cancer, researchers do not know why that is, but the majority of breast cancer tumors in women in the world. A woman who died of breast cancer, on average, about 20 years of his life intensity. Breast cancer knows no social boundaries. This is a disease that affects no one match. Some women are prominent in people's lives, including breast cancer impress actress Jill Eikenberry age 52; figure skater Peggy Fleming age 49; Kate Jackson age 50 (charlies angels), Olivia Newton - John age 50 actress singer; Nancy Reagan was 77 years old The first first lady; etheridge Melissa, 43-year-old singer and actress Susan was beautiful this summer. This high percentage of women with breast cancer are not allowed to meet with the world and must be given the results of scientific research.

Despite more than 10 years of research, and consumes more than 1.7 billion dollars and hundreds of women in the world every day of late-stage breast cancer. Doctors still do not know that you should start with breast cancer or how to treat. Doctor access to treat breast cancer is still the same old-fashioned ways: surgery, radiation and chemotherapy. Cruel treatment? I continue to be used for reproduction and research scientists simply will not work. The method is not needed. Cell therapy is a scientific gen biotechnology company focused on the treatment of breast cancer. The company is dedicated to treating breast cancer before is too late. We were not interested in treatment, 5, 10 or 20 years from now. We want your medicine for breast cancer within one year or two. I hope that we are not moving all the way to surgery, radiation, toxic chemotherapy drugs and drag.

Why cell gene therapy? You can search of medical journals suit 2006, in this case, while the blue in the face of Internet search. You are old news for cancer research and treatment of breast is not new news. Breast cancer research is caught in the black. treatment of breast cancer cells for gene therapy tomorrow is a scientific and technical approach using a different angle today. Our areas of expertise include stem cell research and human genome. Invalid stem cell development are already associated with breast cancer. We talk about the common use of stem cells into sperm and egg cells. Because you are not politically controversial stem cells that genetically match is always in the news as a whole. Cancer stem cells to divide, combine our understanding of genes and mutations cause cancer, and our knowledge of how to remove the cancer genes will result in savings to the organization during the normal breast.

Breast cancer - the problems faced by women

There was a time when breast cancer is called as a terrible disease. But things have changed now. If early detection, it can be easily treated. The elimination of their breasts in the treatment of breast cancer can be a painful thing, you have to take. It may not be the same case all patients. With the knowledge of the cure and treatment of breast cancer can be treated very easily.

Cells of breast cancer, will take place in our breast tumor growth as out of control near damage to the organization and dissemination of all. These tumor cells are known as cancer and cause much damage to his body. Because it requires a great deal of time to tumor growth, may not be easy to find tumors in self-examination. However, these can be detected with breast X-ray.

The incidence of breast cancer the best treatment - early detection. Once found the cancer is much easier for doctors and seek their own. After 20 years of age, all women should start doing breast self-examination (BSE) This is one of the most vulnerable and fastest way to detect cancer. These inspections should be carried out by a few days after your period. You must verify that at least once a month. Clinical breast exams should be done at least once a year.

Breast cancer: measures to contribute to early detection

I learned some facts about breast cancer, and I think that every woman should know. The sources that I used for this article include the American Cancer Society, National Cancer Institute, Lafon Foundation Breast Cancer Crusade.

Breast cancer early usually do not detect pain. In fact, when breast cancer first develops, there may be no symptoms at all. Therefore, the importance of regular examinations. If you have something that makes one feel breast cancer, ask your doctor immediately. Do not wait around to see what happens. Let the professionals decide. Tit, discharge or tenderness

The blocks in the chest and / or region armpit

Visual changes, which include: the size of the breasts, including swelling, reverse Dug, and incitement. Grains means the skin is similar to the skin of oranges. Expansion of the breast skin and can also be a symptom.

Early detection of breast cancer is important. Another 97% five-year survival in breast cancer is detected early, and that this could help to prevent its spread. Here are some guidelines for early detection. I hope that it helps to save someone's life.

For breast

Breast cancer is a special X-ray of the breast for the detection of cancers that can not reveal their feelings. Confusion among some women are often so it should get breast cancer. Here is what the professionals say about mammograms.

Clinical breast exam

This is a survey of health professionals. Women in the twenties of age and Althelatiniat should have a clinical breast exam at least every three years and women 40 years or older must be tested each year.

Self-examination

From women in the age of 20 should start self-employment tests. Ask your doctor if you do not really know how to do it or if you are sure you do it right. Here is some evidence that follow: lie down and place one arm behind your head. Three platforms with your finger East press vigorously for your breasts in overlapping Diem - circular volume of applications. Use three different pressures: light, medium and the company. This enables you to feel close to the textile and your skin to feel a little deeper, and the sense of tissue closest to your chest and ribs.

Methods of detecting early stages of breast cancer

Like many doctors will tell you where the majority of diseases or health issues, fear, ways to combat them is to prevent, as is known, and early detection. Therefore, if you are aware that the history of your family from heart problems and cancer, then you have an advantage over others. As you know, the risks in connection with a family history of disease or health problems can educate you have healthier lifestyles and what environmental factors may contribute to you becoming a greater risk. Certainly there is a problem in connection with breast cancer this is different, in fact awareness and knowledge, which will have the strongest not only in the early detection of diseases, but also beatings.

If you were able to detect breast cancer early enough to see that you often can be treated better. In fact, the five-year survival rate for women who are treated in the early stages of breast cancer is ohromujících 96%.

However, in its early stage breast cancer usually does not cause pain in each patient, and this is why it may be easy for us to recognize. In fact, when breast cancer is the first stage of development, often without symptoms, which makes ga easily identifiable, and it is just as cancer is rising to begin to change that should look like and be aware of.

It is, how you go about finding signs and symptoms (change): --

Breast cancer ribbons. Pink symbol of our time.

Of course, in this day and year in almost every case worthy uses tape and, of course, does not go into his too, and people have detailed how to use them, tapes, which I think is more important than cancer is the most dairy gland tape.

Many women agree that breast cancer is against women, and while awareness of the risks and understanding of preventive measures to be taken on a regular basis has increased over the last few years, and who saved many lives of May, some people who still do not understand danger , Breast cancer, and there are many others who prefer to live in denial of this happening with them.

There, it is important for more women to make pink ribbon and join the fight against breast cancer. First, and most important is that it shows that you care and are willing to give a little of your time and energy to try and educate more women, as well as warn others, and only then can be through these small actions need to save the life of someone. Of course, this is not a joke, and only occasionally consciousness that separates from healthy patients and those who live or die. We are now in a phase when people learn new dangers for all the time and now with the potential dangers arising in connection with terrorism and natural disasters, breast cancer, although about it long and caused so much pain and grief is certainly deserves to be treated with a little more respect and should be remembered, even on a daily basis. So wear pink ribbon will do.

Now, every October around the world, it was one international breast cancer awareness month, namely the moment when we must try to do everything we can to increase overall awareness of the disease, and even more education of women in ways to combat breast cancer. Also during the month, it's time to raise funds for distinguishes various organizations and foundations that work in one year to help the many victims of the disease. There are many patients who do not have money or means that you will be able to try and heal disease, and it is through the organization, money is raised, because they can give them the support they need.

So, next October, when it comes to all you have to do is buy one of those pink ribbons and place it on your shirt or jacket and show your solidarity for those patients who are currently involved in the disease who are victims of disease and those family members Victims or their friends who believe that they are made in this dreaded disease. But you do not have to limit ourselves to carry only during the month of October, as it only takes one person ask you to be about it and just think the difference will do so within a year, and if they liked-minded people to do the same in the world each day and each person approached a drug that has no information about what this means, imagine the number of lives, which could have been saved or avoided.

So it is hoped that in the future in the fight against breast cancer, the same as in the fight against all forms of cancer, will be able to achieve the objectives it seeks to achieve, and eventually claiming fewer victims. In addition, it will help to modern medicine and science for the detection and treatment, that more and more people worldwide will live happy and healthy life.

Are you a high risk of breast cancer first?

No one knows the exact causes of breast cancer. Doctors can seldom explain why one woman gets breast cancer and others do not.

Doctors to know that shock, damage or the breast does not lead to breast cancer. A breast cancer is not contagious. No one can "catch" the disease from another person.

But research has shown that women with certain risk factors are more likely than others to develop breast cancer. Risk is a factor for everything a person increases the chance to develop the disease. The study showed the risk factors for breast cancer:

1st Šanci in the procurement of breast cancer as a woman is getting older.

2nd A woman who has breast cancer in one breast, is an increased risk of the disease in their other breast.

3rd The woman is the risk of breast cancer is higher if her mother, sister or daughter had breast cancer, especially at a young age (up to 40 years).

4th The older a woman is when his first child, the greater are his chances of breast cancer. Women who began menstruation (had her first menstrual period) at an early age (up to the age of 12 years), late menopause over (after the completion of 55 years of age), or never had children are also at increased risk.

5th Breast cancer occurs more often than women in white, Latina, Asian or African American women.

6th Women who had radiation therapy to the breast (including the chest) to the age of 30 are at increased risk of breast cancer. These include women treated with radiation for Hodgkin's lymphoma. Studies show that the young woman was when he received radiation therapy, the higher the risk of breast cancer later in life.

7th Older women are mostly non-dense fat) tissue of mammography (x-ray of the breast), are at increased risk of breast cancer.

8th After menopause, women are obese, have an increased risk of breast cancer. As obese means that a woman has an extremely high percentage of body fat. As the bodies of some of its estrogen (a hormone) in the fat, overweight women are more likely than thin women have higher estrogen in their bodies. High estrogen, due to the fact that obese women have an increased risk of breast cancer. Furthermore, some studies show that the acquisition of weight after menopause increases the risk of breast cancer.

9th Women who are physically inactive throughout life, it seems, there is an increased risk of breast cancer. As a physically active can help reduce the risk to prevent weight and obesity.

It is useful to be aware of risk factors. But it is also important to remember that the majority of women who have these risk factors do not get breast cancer.

A woman who thinks that may be at risk of breast cancer should discuss these concerns with their health provider. The health sector may propose ways to reduce the risk and can plan an appropriate timetable for a revision.

Fat has long been known as one of the factors Evil breast cancer

Research has shown that too much fat, feed Cup increased risk of tumor. In addition to the international comparative studies, said if the higher amounts of fat consumed is, of breast cancer cases increased.

The quality of the results of these studies do not have much imagination. They are based on the volume of agricultural production and the state is not fat consumption of individuals.

In addition, societies differ from one another, with little fat consumed by traditional Japanese rural areas or in Africa as compared to our prosperous Western societies, it is impossible to link back to various diseases such as breast cancer only one meal or a materials such as fat.

Take for young women who have periods of Africa at a later date than those of western women, but they meet their first child in previous years, and many children. All these factors will reduce the statistical risk of breast cancer.

Most new and more systematic studies in which women who consume much food, but very little fat is compared directly with each other. The results do not prove that it demonstrates that another source of fat is worse or better than others.

This is not a role, whether it is fat, it was animal or plant origin, and whether it is mainly composed of fatty acids.

Because breast cancer promotion advertize Poor nutrition is also regarded as too many calories, too much fat, meat and alcohol. On the other hand, low-fat diet food is better in the chest and rich base materials, vegetables, fruit, anti-oxidants and vitamins.

But how well these statements proved research?

Laboratory, he has demonstrated that mice set to half rations of food live longer and rarely get cancer. So women who wish to protect themselves against breast cancer is to do the same?

It is recommended that it would not be beneficial for women to go to such a strict diet, first because of all the studies, observations of people not lead to the adoption of calories and the risk of developing breast cancer. Secondly, from experience, it shows that people who are permanently excluded food and are willing to put in place weight on the other hand become thin.

However, it is indirect impact on the Western lifestyle, the risk of developing breast cancer. We children to mature very quickly, especially for women who become sexually mature earlier. Statistically, this early stage of development has been accompanied by an increase in breast cancer.

The link between breast cancer is by far is far more clearly what is studied and read technical books. The data show that the years of course women seem to be protected against tumors of the breast. Previous statistics show that.

Recent studies published increased weight does not lead to higher risk of developing this form of breast cancer. These extra pounds of body weight actually helps protect osteoporosis, fearful decalcifying bone.

When the increase in meat consumption by about half the studies published so far have not led to an increased risk of developing breast cancer, the other half were decided sum, which is probably explained by the fact that there are some men who are sensitive to reactions of meat

Women with sensitive reactions showed some characteristics of their hereditary factors which are currently being studied intensively. Each lead to possible concern that it is beneficial to the meat. It is important to know that it is questionable substances, in particular, to develop and carry out meat. In addition, these effects can be further increased the minimum number of meat, spices like chile, mint and mustard.

As for the alcohol goes in most of the studies found an increase in the risk of developing breast cancer, some of the date of beverage per day. However, the exacerbation of risk is only slight. Although alcohol is not favorably healthy in large quantities, the benefits of alcohol are reasonably be taken into account. With its favourable effect on the cardiovascular system, moderate alcohol consumption is the second part of life involved in a clear reduction in heart problems and the effects of the accumulation of disease risk, which is a higher life!

Fruit and vegetables are healthy, but consume large amount of vegetables and fruits, however, do not offer high protection against breast cancer. Several large studies have been able to present evidence of specific protective effect is a major consumption of fruits and vegetables. But this in no way reduces the importance of fruit and vegetables as part of healthy eating!

The same is true of vitamins as anti-oxidants, vitamin E, C and A, a sound is not necessary in the city of evidence that vitamins can reduce the risk of developing breast cancer. References are made that vitamin E and C can really help to enrich the tumor will help it to protect themselves against drugs designed to destroy it.

One possible exception of vitamin B-group. Is that really is useful, but only revealed by future studies and more data are collected and recommendations.

Besides vitamins and minerals to supplement vegetables contain secondary plant compounds that may be useful. Of these substances, for example, are ranked well flavonoid (antioxidant group of chemical compounds) and phytoestrogens (compounds that are naturally in plants).

That is why they are currently intensively studied in the laboratory and research animals, and a number of studies, observations of people claimed to chest to prevent the effects of phytoestrogens.

Before targeted feeding recommendations may be adopted, the researchers must explain how the processing of food reflects the impact of these substances.

However, all existing knowledge gaps that can safely say that there is no diet or food in a form that can improve cancer!

Women who are not physically active, smoke or consume lots of alcohol are at higher risk for developing breast cancer.

Women who have a first child at a later age, or never given birth are at greater risk for developing breast cancer.

A woman who had close family members who develop breast cancer are at greater risk for themselves.

Women who are older. The further progress of women in life, her senior likelihood of development of breast cancer.

Many organizations and industry forces that have joined in the push back breast cancer and can only encourage them donating time or money to this worthy cause. A metaphysical perspective on breast cancer

We see all the Susan G. Kolman pink ribbons for breast cancer awareness. I would like to touch the breast cancer of the metaphysical perspective. The breasts are directly related to food-as is the color pink. The breasts also represent motherhood, whether our children, our family, our spouse or the world at large. Problems with breasts, whether experienced by a man or a woman, indicate insecurity about our ability to provide for others or to protect them.

Both my mother and her mother has learned from breast cancer. They both experienced cancer in the right breast, which I will explain in a moment. Breast disorders may also occur when you tend to ask too much of yourself and then feel that you can not provide the satisfaction of all. According to Lisa Bourbeau in his book "Your Body is Telling You Love Yourself" "If you are right, the right breast is linked to your partner, your family or relatives. Your left breast is linked more closely with your child, your inner child . If your left hand is the dominant opposite is true.

In my experience, I found that the left breast may indicate issues to do with care, education, maternal feelings type. The left side of the body is the feminine, and the addresses of receipt. When lessons to develop a cancer on the left side in the first place, it is time to examine the attitudes that deal with these matters in your life.

I find that many women, including my mother and grandmother, to develop lessons of their right breasts after a period of stress created by care. When I speak, I often explain that cancer is based on profound questions of guilt or resentment, anger is much accumulated inside these cells. In the case of breast cancer I discovered that the ration sharp among caregivers is neither because of resenting care or resenting those that you take care. The cancer is linked to the guilt on the scene a car because of the RELIEF felt beyond death, but a glance there is still a sense of relief when we love one transitions. I receive many reactions to this perception, but many years of spiritual advice to my own experience I believe in the importance of recognizing and release this understandable reaction of man.

The right is also how we present our own in the world (male or "man in the world." When a man joint transition, we assume that the role of being in charge, where the relationship with energy male. Law is also on the release and matters of letting go, so that must be considered together.

Understand that the breast is on the development and food, I look at the issues of the mother, whatever the origin of which side issues such as cysts or tumors manifest. There is a direct correlation with how you were mothered and issues developed in the breasts (which is true for me or for women). Rather than pushing you to "forget" or on the other end of spectrum lamenting what you are going through, stop and begin to objectively understand that you do not have been put on this earth to protect and nurture everyone that you love! It is on care and love self first. I equate it to the oxygen mask on the plane, you have to help first in order to be useful to someone else.

If you ask others for help and it is in your power to help us, please. But do so with love, joy and pleasure. Not on a sense of obligation or resentment. If help at a given time is beyond your limits in any way or you do not want to do, admit it for both you and them and allow you to step back. It is OK to say "no".

I often tell clients, practical and myself, the only way to take control of your life is letting go! Your mother's love and basic development will always be there to support those you love without feeling obliged to be active (s) mothering

Cancer Threatment

Just the mention of cancer sends a chill down your spine. And when it comes to talking about cancer treatment (complete cure), one is just left looking around for answers. Yes, it’s a well known fact that there is no fail-proof or definitive cancer treatment for most types of cancer. Unavailability of cancer treatment is what makes cancer so dreaded. Well, it’s not just the unavailability of cancer treatment that makes the things so grim but also the difficulty in detection of cancer.

Cancer treatment and research

Though a lot of research has been going on in the field of cancer treatment, the solution (i.e. fail-proof cancer treatment) has been evading the researchers till now. It’s not that all the research has been unsuccessful. There have been improvements in cancer treatment techniques that are being used and some new cancer treatment techniques have yielded good results; however, there is nothing like a complete cure for most types of cancer. A lot of effort is also being put into developing cancer diagnosis procedures in order to ensure correct and timely diagnosis of various types of cancer. After all, successful diagnosis is the first step towards cancer treatment.

Cancer treatment – old and new methods

The old methods of cancer treatment include things like surgical procedures for removal of malignant tissue and use of radiation and chemotherapy to get rid of the malignant cells and prevent their growth. Apart from these cancer treatment methods, there are other cancer treatment procedures that are being put to use quite effectively - one such cancer treatment is the use of Tamoxifen in hormone based cancer treatment. A number of other new cancer treatment procedures are being developed and tested all the time in an effort to find a cancer treatment that is fully curative and fail-proof.

Cancer treatment, prevention and detection

Since there is no definitive cancer treatment available, the best way to tackle this monster is to take measures for protection against cancer and to device ways of early detection of cancer. The main recommendations for cancer prevention include things like refraining from tobacco, reducing intake of alcoholic drinks, engaging in physical activity / exercise and avoiding exposure to direct sunlight (i.e. UV rays). With regards to cancer detection, the most important thing is to increase your knowledge about cancer, cancer symptoms, cancer treatment etc. It’s important to know that there are many cancer screening tests that you can undergo to help detect cancer in early stages and hence get cancer treatment whilst the things are still controllable.

Stomach Cancer

Stomach is a body organ that is responsible for breaking down the food into semi-solid state. The glands within the stomach produce several chemicals/enzymes that help in the digestion of the food. Formation of cancerous tissue within the stomach is known as stomach cancer.

Types of stomach cancer

There are a few different types of stomach cancers. However, the most well known stomach cancer is the one that occurs in the glandular cells of the stomach. This type of stomach cancer is also known as adenocarcinomas. Then there are other types of stomach cancer (based on the cells that are affected by cancer).

Causes of stomach cancer

There is a lot of research going on for ascertaining the exact causes of the stomach cancer. As of now, stomach cancer is known to happen more in older people i.e. people above 60 years of age. Some theories also suggest that certain conditions of stomach (including some types of stomach infections) could also increase the risk of stomach cancer. There are also suggestions of stomach cancer being linked to genes.

Symptoms of stomach cancer

The currently known symptoms of stomach cancer cannot really point to stomach cancer. As you would have imagined, the stomach cancer symptoms include things like indigestion, nausea, pain, tiredness etc. In case you feel that you are displaying some or all symptoms, you should consult a qualified doctor and get a check-up done. This can help in not only allaying your fears of stomach cancer but also help in early detection of stomach cancer (and thus facilitate treatment of stomach cancer).

Diagnosis of stomach cancer

You should make a note of and narrate the symptoms to the doctor as best as you can. This can really be helpful to the doctor doing the diagnosis. The diagnosis of stomach cancer will generally start with blood test and stool test. Endoscopy could be the next test in line for stomach cancer. In fact, endoscopy is quite effective in detecting stomach cancer. The cells collected from stomach are taken up for biopsy for further ascertaining the presence of stomach cancer. Couples of other stomach cancer detection techniques are used too but endoscopy seems to be the most common one.

Treatment of stomach cancer

Like most other cancer types, stomach cancer treatment is also carried out mostly through surgery. However, chemotherapy could also form part of your treatment. Depending on the need, the doctor might also advise radiotherapy for treatment of stomach cancer.

Many Cancer Deaths Can Be Prevented

Not taking into account certain skin cancers, in 2005, more than 570,000 Americans, or more than 1,500 people a day, will die of cancer. The bad news is the rate is increasing by about 1% a year. Finally, one in three of us will be diagnosed with cancer during our life.

Cancer tends to affect older people, but it can strike at any time. Some cancer, such as breast, are becoming more common. New cases of lung cancer fall away due to the big number of smokers. According to statistics, cancer is the second leading cause of death among Americans. It is responsible for one of every four deaths in the United States

However, while the overall number of new cancers is not falling, the good news is that successful treatment rates for many of the most common types are improving rapidly.

On the other hand, recent studies claims the number of new cancer cases can be reduced substantially, and many cancer deaths can be prevented. It's in our power to adopt healthier lifestyles. Just take a look to the following list:

  1. avoid tobacco use,
  2. increase physical activity,
  3. achieve optimal weight,
  4. improve nutrition,
  5. avoid sun exposure.

The above actions can significantly reduce a person’s risk for cancer. On the other side, making cancer screening, information, and referral services accessible and available to all Americans is also crucial for reducing the high rates of cancer and cancer deaths.

Obesity Increases Your Chances Of Developing Cancer

Several studies have shown that being overweight or obese can dramatically increase a persons probability of developing several forms of cancer.

Both obesity and a lack of physical activity are thought to account for up to 20 percent of all cancer deaths. An estimated 41,000 new cases of cancer alone were diagnosed in the United States that are thought to be attributable to obesity.

Obesity puts increased oxidative stress on the bodies major internal organs, increasing free radical production and therefore cancer risk. Obesity also affects the secretion of hormones such as estrogen and androgens which may also influence cancer risks in certain parts of the body.

Liver cancer is thought to be the cancer most closely linked with obesity with one study finding an almost five-fold increase in liver cancer in men and two-fold increase in women in those with a BMI greater than 35.

Other cancers that are closely associated with cancer are pancreatic cancer, which is more than two times more likely in those with a BMI greater than 35, stomach, esophageal, colo-rectal and kidney cancer.

In women, cancer of the breast, uterus and cervix were also higher amongst obese individuals and in men, the risk of prostate cancer was also raised by obesity.

Esophageal cancer, which is rapidly becoming one of the most common forms of cancer is also thought to be related to obesity. Gastric reflux problems are more common in obese individuals which leads to an increase in the condition known as Barrett's esophagus. Barrett's esophagus progresses into cancer in approximately 0.5% of cases.

With obesity rates sky-rocketing in the western world, the prevalence of these forms of cancer is likely to continue to increase. Fortunately the effects of obesity can be reversed, a drop in BMI of just five points corresponds to approximately a 15 percent reduction in cancer risk.

More Men Die With Prostate Cancer Than of It

Prostate cancer is the second leading cause of cancer death in men, after lung cancer. Every year it kills more than 30,000 American males.

There are two different types of the cancer - an aggressive and deadly one and the other a slower-growing and less harmful one. Making possible prostate cancer detection and its severity anticipation is the way to save thousands of men a year from surgery (treatment) they don't need. The big problem is not the surgery itself, but the situation they will face the side effects of that treatment such as impotence, bladder control troubles and possible worst conditions.

To be able for this performance, doctors use varying techniques. The newest methods involve 3-D mapping, a biopsy method in which a grid is placed over the prostate to evaluate the amount of cancer and its precise location. The prostate specific antigen (PSA) is another possibility to detect the severity of prostate cancer. Because PSA can reveal how quickly the cancer changes over time, specialists hope that they will be soon able to anticipate the more aggressive form of prostate cancer.

In the context of accuracy, more typical methods have recently been the subject of debate. One of panel conclusion was that the still standard biopsy helps doctors determine whether cancer is present.

Prostate cancer patients should be very interested in doctor's abilities and methods to determine the severity of their illness. They need a right evaluation of stage and progression of cancer as more men die with prostate cancer than of it.

Early Detection Of Any Disease Is The Key So What Are The First Symptoms Of Lung Cancer?

Much research work has been dedicated to find out the first symptoms of lung cancer. Cancer is that painful disease that needs no introduction and cancer of the lung is one of its most common forms. It is said that early detection of cancer is the key to its prevention.

Extensive research works conducted at Mesothelioma research clinics have uncovered some symptoms of lung cancer closely linked with the disease.

Lung Cancer Symptoms

People addicted to tobacco and those who are constantly exposed to the ill effects of asbestos are more susceptible to lung cancer. Ignorance about the symptoms of lung cancer may lead to a full-fledged blown up case.

Be on alert if you are having cough most of the time. This is one of the first symptoms. A related symptom may be a change in the nature of coughing. Other symptoms may be- being short of breath and coughing up bloodstained sputum. Mesothelioma research has established that aches while breathing, loss of appetite, fatigue and loss of weight can also be the first symptoms of the cancer of the lung.

These are considered to be the primary symptoms of lung cancer. There are secondary symptoms too.

Sudden development of a hoarse voice is one of the secondary lung cancer symptoms. Difficulty in swallowing is considered as another symptom of cancer of the lung.

Swelling of the face due to blockage of main blood vessel and swelling of neck due to enlarged lymph nodes may be other symptoms as well.

Treat pain in the right rib region and shortness of breath due to accumulation of fluid as warning signals of cancer of the lung. When you notice any of them, visit your physician for a thorough check-up.

Let’s combat the deadly lung cancer together.

Stages of Ovarian Cancer

There are four specific stages of ovarian cancer. Knowing these stages will help you to determine what your treatment options are and what symptoms to look for so you can get the upper hand on the silent killer.

Stage one is when the cancer is limited to the ovaries only. Within this there are three stages. Stage 1A is when the cancer is limited to just one ovary, 1B is when the cancer is in both ovaries and 1C is with tumors on either one or both ovaries and a tumor on the surface.

Stage two is when the ovarian cancer involves one or both ovaries with pelvic extension. Stage 2A is when the cancer has extended to the uterus and/or the tubes, 2B is when the cancer has extended to the pelvic tissues and 2C is a tumor with a ruptured capsule that contains malignant cells.

Stage three is ovarian cancer that involves one or both of the ovaries and the cancer has spread outside the pelvis. Liver metastasis can equal stage three ovarian cancer. Stage 3A is when the cancer is limited to the pelvis but microscopic examination shows seeding in the abdominal cavity, 3B is when the cancer has become implanted on abdominal surfaces but nothing is above two centimeters in diameter and 3C is any abdominal cancers over two centimeters in diameter.

Stage four is a growth on one or both of the ovaries with distant metastasis. Stage 4A is an extension of metastasis to the uterus and/or the tube, 4B is an extension to the pelvic tissues and 3C is a ruptured capsule with malignant cells.

Ovarian Cancer Stages

By the stage of a cancer we try to express how far the disease has spread. It is crucial, as treatment is mostly decided depending on the stage of a cancer. For ovarian cancer, doctors use a simple I-IV staging system called the FIGO (International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics) system.

Stage I means the cancer is confined to the ovaries. In stage IA, the cancer is confined to one ovary, while in IB the cancer is present in both ovaries. In stage IC, in addition to the cancer being present in either one or both of the ovaries, cancer cells may be present on the outer surfaces of one or both ovaries, or in fluid taken from inside the abdomen; or, the outer wall of a cystic ovarian tumor may have burst.

By stage II we mean the cancer has grown outside the ovary or ovaries, but it is inside the pelvis. In stage IIA, the cancer has reached the fallopian tubes or the womb, while IIB means the cancer has grown into other tissues in the pelvis, such as the bladder or rectum. Stage IIC indicates that in addition to stages IIA and IIB, either some cancer is present on the surface of at least one ovary or cancer cells are found in fluid taken from inside the abdomen during surgery, or the ovary ruptures before or during surgery.

Stage III means the cancer has spread outside the pelvis into the abdominal cavity. It is also stage III if cancer is found in the lymph nodes in the upper abdomen, groin or behind the womb. In stage IIIA, cancer can be seen under the microscope in tissue taken from the lining of the abdomen, while in IIIB, small tumor growths are found on the lining of the abdomen. In IIIC, tumor growths larger than 2cm are found on the lining of the abdomen; the lymph nodes in the upper abdomen, groin or behind the womb contain cancer.

Stage IV, the most advanced of all, means the cancer has spread into other body organs such as the liver or lungs.

What to Do If You Have a Family History of Ovarian Cancer

Ovarian cancer is a serious and silent disease amongst women. Certain families may even have a history of ovarian cancer. Those with a family history of ovarian cancer are at an increased risk of developing it themselves. While you can’t completely do away with the risk of ovarian cancer through diet and exercise you will be able to significantly reduce the risk of ovarian cancer as well as all other types of cancer. Staying healthy and watching your weight is an important personal strategy to help your body stay healthy and avoid all types of cancer and diseases. However, if you have a family history of ovarian cancer then is it even more important that you pay close attention to your body.

If you have a family history of ovarian cancer then the first recommendation is to have genetic counseling on the issue of ovarian cancer. This will help you learn if you have one of the two gene mutations that can lead to ovarian cancer. If you find out that your family has a negative history of ovarian cancer or that you do not have either of the gene mutations then you can enjoy the good news since is means both yourself and your child will have a better chance at not developing ovarian cancer.

However, if you find you do have either of the gene mutations then you shouldn’t become discouraged. You will have options to help prevent your ovarian cancer. However, you will need to pay more attention to your body and have pap tests done more often and take a more aggressive approach to your diet. Your doctor will help your determine the best prevention strategy to meet your needs.

Lung Cancer Stages

Cancers are staged depending on how far they have spread. Staging a cancer correctly is essential to select the most appropriate treatment option. A number of diagnostic tests, such as CT scans, MRIs, bronchoscopy, blood tests, bone scans, and biopsies are used to find out how far the cancer has spread.

Non-small cell lung cancers, which account for about 80 percent of lung cancers, are staged using the Roman numerals 0 through IV. If a cancer is too small to be detected, it is called an occult or hidden cancer and not assigned any numeral. Stage 0 cancer, or carcinoma in situ, is limited to the lung and only involves a few layers of cells. Stage I cancer is still limited to the lung, with an area of normal tissue surrounding it. Stage I cancers are further divided into Stage IA and Stage IB, depending on the size of the tumor. In stage II cancer, the cancer may have spread to nearby lymph nodes, the chest wall, the diaphragm, or to the tissues lining the lung (pleura) and the heart (pericardium). In stage III cancer, lymph nodes in the central chest or on the other side of the body from the original tumor are involved. Stage III cancer is further divided into stage IIIA and stage IIIB. In stage IV cancer, the cancer has spread to other parts of the body, such as the liver, bones or brain, or to a lobe of the other lung. Cancers that are stages 0 through IIIA may be treated with surgery. Treatment of stage III and stage IV cancers requires chemotherapy and radiotherapy.

Small cell lung cancer has two stages. Limited-stage cancer is limited to only one lung, the tissues between the lungs, and nearby lymph nodes. In extensive-stage small cell lung cancer, the cancer has spread to other parts of the body. The brain is commonly involved in extensive-stage cancer.

Lung Cancer

Lung cancer is the most frequently lethal cancer in the United States. Among all causes of death, lung cancer ranks second after heart disease for males, and third after heart and cerebrovascular disease for females. In 2002 alone, over 150,000 people in the United States died of lung cancer.

Cancers form when certain cells in the body grow and multiply in an uncontrolled fashion. When such uncontrolled growth affects lung tissues, a lung cancer forms. Lung cancer is classified into two main types- small cell lung cancer and non-small cell lung cancer. An estimated 80 percent of lung cancer patients have non-small cell lung cancer.

Smoking or inhaling second hand smoke, environmental exposures such as asbestos and radon gas, and a family history of lung cancer increase the risk of an individual getting lung cancer. However, some lung cancers arise in the absence of these risk factors. Factors that may protect people from lung cancer are not smoking, avoiding second hand smoke, a diet rich in fresh vegetables and fruit, and limiting exposure to potential carcinogens in the environment such as radon.

About 25 percent of people with lung cancer report no symptoms at the time of diagnosis. In the remainder, symptoms and signs vary, and may include breathlessness, a long lasting cough, coughing up blood, chest pain, wheezing, repeated chest infections, fever, and weight loss. A diagnosis of lung cancer is made on the basis of cell type, x-ray findings and symptoms. The cancer is then staged depending on the extent of its spread within the chest cavity and to other parts of the body. Treatment of lung cancer depends on the cell type and on the stage of cancer at the time of diagnosis. Treatment typically includes surgery, chemotherapy and radiation. Survival rates depend on the type and stage of lung cancer at the time of diagnosis.

Breast Cancer Information

There is lot of information about breast cancer on the internet and books. I have gathered here all the important information regarding breast cancer including symptoms, causes, diagnosis, treatment and prevention. Breast cancer is one of the most common cause of death in women but men are rarely affected by this disease. This cancer forms in tissue ducts and milk making glands of the breast.

First of all lets have a look on the main symptoms and signs of breast cancer

early breast cancer have practically no symptoms it can only be conformed by the palpation of breast lump by self examination of breast ;

lump can be present slightly above the collar bone or it can be also in the armpit if you are suspecting a breast lump do consult your physician;

discharge from the breast;

changes in the nipple;

changes in the breast skin;

early detection of breast cancer improves the survival rate.

Risk factors

irreversible risk factors

if u are a woman you are in the risk of breast cancer;

risk of breast cancer also increases with the age of a person;

hereditary inclination that is presence of breast cancer genes or family history of breast cancer;

there is a risk of developing breast cancer in women starting menstruating in early age.

reversible risk factors

hormone therapy;

oral contraceptives;

hormone therapy started after menopause;

alcohol intake;

obesity;

less physical activity.

Tests for the diagnosis of the breast cancer

mammography;

medical resonance imaging;

breast biopsy.

Treatment

Surgical treatment includes mastectomy or lumpectomy followed by breast reconstruction;

adjuvant therapy includes radiotherapy, chemotherapy and hormonal therapy.

Cancer Symptom

Cancer symptoms and the importance of early detection

Cancer is like a curse for mankind and that too a life threatening one. Cancer will continue to be a monster for us until we are able to detect cancer symptoms in a more definitive manner and are able to find a fail-proof cure for it. So, we are faced with two challenges here – the ability to read/recognise cancer symptoms and the ability to treat cancer in a fail-proof manner. To understand cancer symptoms and the importance of early detection in a better way, let’s first start with understanding what cancer actually is.

What is cancer?

Put simply, cancer is a diseased condition of body which is caused by uncontrolled abnormal growth of cells. This growth might start in one organ and might quickly start spreading to other nearby organs. There are various types of cancer and these are generally named after the body organ where this uncontrolled and abnormal growth of cells occurs. So you have breast cancer, ovarian cancer, lung cancer and many other types of cancer. The cancer symptoms might vary based on what organ they affect.

Importance of early detection of cancer symptoms

Since the cancer cells grow at a fast pace, if you are not able to read cancer symptoms early enough, the cancer might become completely incurable. If the cancer symptoms are diagnosed in the early stages (and if the cancer is localised to just one organ), you might actually be able to get a cure for cancer. So, early detection of cancer symptoms is quite important in determining your chances of survival. Moreover, if the cancer symptoms are not recognised quickly and diagnosis sought, cancer can spread to other organs too (which might make it completely incurable). There are instances where early detection of cancer symptoms lead to complete cure too (e.g. early detection of breast cancer symptoms might make it possible to get a complete cure through surgery that involves removal of cancerous cells).

Pro-active detection of cancer symptoms

Cancer symptoms can be detected at a very stage by being proactive e.g. by going for cancer screening tests that help see the cancer symptoms early enough for curative action to be effective. In fact, too much of a delay could lead to curative action being not possible at all. Most hospitals and clinics stack free cancer symptom detection booklets which you can read to increase your awareness about cancer symptoms and cancer in general.

Fewer People Dying From Colon Cancer

Luckily fewer people are dying from Colon Cancer each year in this is due to good education and early detection of those who are potentially at risk. How do you know if you are at risk? Well if someone in your immediate family has had colon cancer you might be more susceptible.

If you are over 45 years old and you have found you are passing blood in your stool then you may want to get checked out. Then or women with iron deficiency used can also be susceptible to colon cancer. Women who have been diagnosed with other types of cancer such as ovarian cancer or breast cancer can also be susceptible to colon cancer.

So the good news is that fewer people are dying from Colon Cancer, but the bad news is if you did I get checked out that isn't that help you much if you're one who has it. About 350 people in about 100,000 will get colon cancer, so your odds are better than you think, but it makes sense to stay on the safe side and consider early detection as the best way to fight colon cancer.

There are many good web sites on the Internet, which have information on colon cancer and you may wish to check the American Cancer Society's web site which has a full listing of all the issues that have to do colon cancer. Consider this in 2006.

Obesity Increases the Prostate Cancer Death Risk

Obese men suffering from prostate cancer are two-and-a-half times more likely to die from it compared to normal-weight men, according to a recent study from Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center.

The study involved almost eight hundred middle-aged men who were recently diagnosed with prostate-cancer, and followed the subjects for ten years. Seventeen percent of the subjects were obese and six percent of them died of prostate-cancer.

The mortality risk from prostate cancer for obese men is not related to the treatment, or prostate cancer stage at the time of the study, said Dr. Alan Kristal, senior author of the study. The risk for obese men is of 2.6 times greater compared to healthy weight men, regardless of the cancer diagnostic profile.

The results of the study are not related to whether the patient is subjected to radiation treatment, radical prostatectomy, or androgen-deprivation therapy. It does not matter if the subject suffers from a high grade cancer, or low-grade, localized, distant, or regional cancer, says Kristal.

Particularly, men with regional or local prostate-cancer have a 3.6-time higher risk of metastasis, or cancer spreading to other organs, than patients with a healthy weight.

Obesity was strongly connected with prostate cancer especially for men with regional disease, meaning cancer that has already started to spread to surrounding tissues, compared to those with early cancer.

Researchers believe that inflammation and steroid hormones are behind the connection between prostate-cancer and obesity. Obesity is considered a massive inflammatory condition, which modifies the levels of serum estrogens and increases factors that lead to cancer growth, according to Kristal.

Cancer Threat

Cancer is one the major causes of death in the world, especially in developing countries. Cancer can affect anyone whether the person is rich, poor, man, women, child or teenager. More than 40% of all cancers can be prevented. Cancer arises from one single cell which is then gets transformed from a normal cell into a tumor cell.

Now let’s put some light on WHAT IS CANCER?

Cancer is the Latin word for crab. Cancer is a disease of cells, which courses by the abnormal growth of cells. Cancer is of many types. It is a group of more than 100 different types wherein skin cancer is the most common type of cancer.

FACTS ABOUT CANCER
  • Lung Cancer(1.3 million deaths/year)
